Mediator Qualifications Disclosure Program Mediator. Mediate.com offers mediators the opportunity to be evaluated as "Associate," "Practitioner" or "Senior" Mediators based upon their degree of training, experience and commitment to a comprehensive set of professional standards. Mediators also indicate the number of cases that they have mediated in specific areas and may provide email links to references. Privacy Why we ask In consultation with the Advisory Board , Mediate.com has established the following Qualifications Disclosure Program (QDP). Mediators with a Mediate.com Premium Referral Listing are eligible to participate in the QDP, but do not need to participate. The QDP allows mediators to share additional specific information with consumers regarding training, standards, experience and references. First, the QDP allows mediators the opportunity to be evaluated as "Associate," "Practitioner" or "Senior" Mediators based upon their degree of training, experience and commitment to a comprehensive set of professional standards. Mediators also indicate the number of cases that they have mediated in specific areas of practice. All of this information is made available to consumers searching the Locate A Mediator Directory . Mediators are asked to verify that their information is correct, are responsible for keeping their information current and are encouraged to provide email links to references. Mediate.com will reasonably investigate allegations of fraudulent information. For purposes of this program, "Mediation" is defined as: "a process in which a mediator facilitates communication and negotiation between parties to assist them in reaching a voluntary agreement regarding their dispute." A "Mediator" is defined as: "an individual, of any profession or background, who conducts a mediation." Here are the requirements for Associate, Practitioner and Senior Mediators: Associate Mediator subscribes to Mediate.com's required standards of mediation practice* has at least 40 hours of mediation training** agrees to take part in at least 12 hours per year of continuing mediation education has mediated at least 10 cases for at least 40 hours Practitioner Mediator subscribes to Mediate.com's required standards of mediation practice* agrees to take part in at least 12 hours per year of continuing mediation education has at least 100 hours of mediation training** has mediated at least 50 cases for at least 200 hours Senior Mediator subscribes to Mediate.com's required standards of mediation practice* agrees to take part in at least 12 hours per year of continuing mediation education has at least 150 hours of mediation training** has mediated at least 100 cases for at least 400 hours * Members must subscribe to the Standards of Mediation Practice and, as applicable, Standards of Practice for Family and Divorce Mediation .
